Six technical committees are set up at Tehran OIC-15 Dialogue Platform: Minister

Iran’s Minister of Science, Research, and Technology Hossein Simaei Sarraf has announced the formation of six technical committees at the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform in Tehran.

 

According to the news headquarters, Those committees were not active at the first round of the platform held in May, 2023, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the minister said during a press conference with media members and correspondents in the Iranian capital on Sunday.

 

Elaborating on the activities of the committees, the minister said they have concentrated on modern technologies, health, climate change, food safety, education development, and trade.

 

In his remarks, the minister underlined the importance of focusing on the development of education and skills for the purpose of drawing an artificial intelligence-based (AI) future.

 

In his remarks released on the first day of the Tehran OIC-15 Dialogue Platform, Sarraf said Iran “has prioritized development of scientific diplomacy.”

 

According to the minister, the proposal for the establishment of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform was first approved by 15 countries, and the aim behind its formation was to make use of the scientific and technological potential of the Islamic countries in order to face scientific challenges.


Through the second summit of higher education ministers from Islamic countries within the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform, the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology represents a strategic opportunity to shape the future outlook of AI to reinforce Iran’s scientific and technological diplomacy with the Islamic world.


The Iranian capital is hosting the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform on May 18-19.
